AI vocabulary

“Agentic” describes a category. Readers want to know the job.

AI agents or agentic appear on 57 of the 100 SaaS homepages we checked, more than any other AI phrase in the library. The words are real product categories, which makes them harder to avoid, but on their own they don’t tell a reader what the agent will do for them.

57/ 100

57 of 100 SaaS homepages we checked use “AI agents and agentic”.

Includes “AI agent”, “AI agents” and “agentic”. Many of these companies do ship agent features; the count shows how common the vocabulary has become, not whether the products are real.

How we counted
01 / What the writer means

What the writer is trying to say.

An AI agent is software that can take a series of actions on its own, such as researching a lead, updating records or resolving a support ticket. Writers use the term to signal that the product does work rather than just suggesting it, and agentic to say the whole product is built around that idea.

02 / Why it fails

Why it stops working.

When most of a market describes itself with the same word, the word stops differentiating. “Agentic revenue platform” and “agentic experience” tell a buyer that the company is following the trend, not which tasks they will no longer have to do.

Agent language also raises practical questions: what can it do without approval, what happens when it gets something wrong, and who checks its work. Copy that only says agentic leaves those questions open at exactly the point a cautious buyer needs them answered.

03 / Say this instead

Say what you actually mean.

Pick the alternative that matches what you were trying to say. Most of the time the fix is a specific detail, not a better adjective.

If you meanIt does work on the reader’s behalf
  • Name the task: “Researches every new lead and adds a summary to the CRM.”
  • Say when it acts: “Replies to routine tickets overnight.”
If you meanIt can be trusted to act
  • Say what needs approval: “Drafts the refund, you approve it.”
  • Say what it can’t touch
If you meanThe product is built for AI
  • Show one workflow from start to finish
  • Say what the reader stops doing by hand
04 / Before and after

The same sentence, made specific.

  1. Before

Deploy AI agents across your entire workflow.

    After

An agent reads each new support ticket, answers the routine ones and hands the rest to your team with a suggested reply.

One concrete job, plus the point where a person takes over.

  2. Before

    Welcome to agentic sales.

    After

Every inbound lead is researched, scored and assigned before your reps start work in the morning.

Describes the outcome instead of the category.

05 / When it’s fine

When it’s fine to keep it.

AI agent is a legitimate product term, and people search for it, so it belongs in navigation, product names and page titles. In the body copy, pair it with the task the agent performs and the point where a person stays in control.

How Revisi flags it

Revisi flags it under Clarity.

Revisi flags agent and agentic language when the sentence doesn’t say what the agent does or where a person stays in control. The finding asks for the task, the trigger and the approval step.
